1998	After some years on sidelines building up a business in underwear which he has since sold, returned to international duties under previous Dutch coach Guus Hiddink as one of three assistants -- team also included former internationals Johan Neeskens and Ronald Koeman and sometimes dubbed the Three Musketeers.
1998	August: Dutch F.A. names him as new national coach with Neeskens as his assistant.
